Cetus, 2021
Collected and altered materials from the Pacific Northwest: Bleached coralline (Corallina Vancouveriensis, “graceful coral seaweed”) from Malcolm Island's Bere Point whale rubbing beach, Charred cedar sprays and fern fronds found near Vancouver, homemade charcoal sticks gifted to me and then ground to dust. Dimensions variable *Named after the constellation that refers to a whale or sea monster and evokes the sky and water. Cetus was made in the midst of Covid 19 beginnings and rampant forest fire smoke in the PNW. |
