In 2005 in my Halifax apartment I filled condoms with water and then stuck the water balloons in  the  kitchen freezer.  By creating a tension in how the balloons were  suspended the water froze  into round bottoms that reached into  points. I took each frozen oblong and it put on the flat  roof.  They didn't last long.  It was mild and sunny, late winter/early spring.
