Ordinary Light, 2017

Ordinary Light was a quiet room where participants were able to witness the passage of time, light and air in relation to the downtown and residential surroundings of the gallery (Unit 17's downtown gallery space). Industrial sheets of plastic with brass were set within the gallery's architecture. The brass near the window moved with the breeze.  Other slats of brass picked up light and cast a glow on the wall.  The plastic was patterned with cutouts and folds, also moving with the air currents in the space and reflecting light.

Here overlooked materials, that are often deemed disposable are altered, inviting a transforming, enlivening, and sanctifying of our industrial surroundings.
