"WHERE THE HEART BEATS..."

10/25/2019

Heading to Victoria for “In the Present Moment: Buddhism, Contemporary Art and Social Practice”.  This eve Kaye Larson who wrote “Where the Heart Beats…” will present “Lecture on Nothing”. By fluke I came across her book hidden in the library shelves in 2014 and the book seemed to radiate life in my hands.   It would come to affirm and influence directions in my studio. During that time I was making work that had to do with perception, non-duality and a reengagement with our surroundings and what was in these surroundings. Much of the work was using this “loaded” material, deemed disposable found in everything: Plastic. This work was about the act of looking  and the ordinariness and extraordinariness of the everyday.

“Only if you move from understanding to actual experience can you really begin to see”.

I am excited and delighted to participate in this conference.
